A Taste of Tryon Cooking: Generation to Generation

Wanted: All Tryons,
Young and Young-At-Heart

Please help Tryons of all ages share in the past,
maintain traditions, and create new memories.

Purpose:

In an effort to preserve Tryon family traditions and help the younger generations learn about their family, Deb Stoneman (Ray's daughter) and Carri Kistner (Ray's granddaughter) are putting together a cookbook of treasured recipes. It is hoped that recipes will be included that share precious memories of Tryon gatherings over the years during holidays and other special occasions.

Scope:

Contributions are requested from the family of Clarence and Dorothy Tryon, including the extended family (i.e. children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, siblings, cousins, etc.). It is estimated that there are over 100 family members who are available to help with this project. Ideally everyone will contribute 2-4 recipes.

Goal:

  • Participation from ALL TRYONS !!
  • Collect 300-400 recipes
  • Include photo of contributor with each recipe
  • Include quotes with recipes that describe:
    - Memories/traditions related to the dishes (i.e. One of Ray's favorite desserts during the Tryon Christmas gathering was Janet's prune cake.)
    - New family traditions inspired from Tryon values
  • NOTE: In the event of duplicate recipes, multiple photos and comments will be included.
