It was vicious, violent and vengeful. Kids with guns. Adults encouraging them to open fire, to shoot, to harass. It wasn't very politically correct.  Kids with big ball bats slugging it out. It should have been rated for excessive violence. Where were the adults? Where were the peace makers, the pacifists? Spies, lies and surprise, everywhere.  Gangs were being formed. Stealth tactics (Travis), speedy attacks (DBT, springing like a leopard) and the ruthless, conniving (Julie), and all of this on our nation's birthday. Benedict Arnold, Aaron Burr and Johnny Bin-Walker would have been proud. Oh, it started as a beautiful day, with beautiful people, wonderful food and stimulating conversation. Oh, there was the usual competitive game of spoons (while drawing blood, Nancy won again) and there were the usual critics picking on the head coach of the Mad Cows (WW) but then all heck broke loose. Before you knew it, there were guns (squirt) everywhere. It just kept escalating into World War 3. Poor DBT, poor WW, poor GT...it wasn't pretty. The vicious little kids. The instigators, some say Julie, Sara, Mandy and Shonna, just kept causing all sorts of trouble. Sneaking around with buckets of water, and buckets of denial. Diplomacy was crucial.  Even the cool, mature, level headed Dale could not bring the situation under control. Why, even poor Larry had to arm himself. (keeping his gun discretely hidden from view) Somebody should be held responsible. I think detention, breakfast club or time out time in a corner might be appropriate. No wonder education has a discipline problem with the educators being so undisciplined. I wonder what poor Diane Densmore thought when she so nicely brought the family genealogy of the Densmores to the gathering, then got splattered herself. (Sure was great to see her) It was a hot, beautiful day and a lot of fun to see everyone. Thanks to Bruce and Donna for hosting. Next time I will wear one of those skin tight rubber surfer suits. I know it might? be unflattering, but a fellow must protect himself. Thanks Bruce and Donna, life is good in Waterworld, a tremendous tradition that is much appreciated by all.
