From Cousin Ron!!  These EXCLUSIVE photos were taken right before the World Trade Center was hit. These are NOT doctored photos in anyway, they have been proven to be authentic, Ron assures us. A friend of his has a cousin who knows someone who works in the FBI. These are NOT fake. (Ron's good judgment and keen eyesight have never been questioned! It's a 15 yd penalty.) THIS IS NOT A HOAX!!  Unless you are Bill and will believe anything. Heh heh

Volleyball Action Heats Up!!
Beth and Mandy wind up stellar careers in the next few weeks. At a recent match in Des Moines, Chad/Em, Shonna/Eric and Brad/Julie attended a big EHK victory.....Eric complained that he saw the Danes win in less than 20 minutes and ADM earlier in 25 and it cost him $28 for a few minutes of action........These girl's are too good!! See schedules below and follow the tournament trail right here on the Tryon Home Page.

Mandy Signs With UNC!!
Last week Mandy went out to The University of Northern Colorado Volleyball elite "try outs".  After the first day, the Head VB Coach and top assistant took Marjean, Mandy, and Coach T to a conference room (for two hours) and told us that they chose Mandy as one of their two athletic scholarships for the year 2002.  She signed a letter of intent and has committed to play volleyball her freshman year for the UNC Bears!!!  Mandy will be one of the few out of state players and will receive a full ride package (in state players get a $7,000 full ride.... Mandy has signed for a $14,000 annual out of state full ride) She had her heart set on playing for a Colorado school and is very happy on her decision!  University of Colorado is in Greeley and has 14,000 students.  They are currently a Division II school and we were told that in two years there will be a big conference change with UNC going to Division I.  Their Volleyball team was 25-8 last season and ranked in the nation- #8

Jerry And Big John Open Sports Bar In Carroll!!
JJ and Big John (owner of Graphic Edge) have opened a very impressive sports bar in Carroll. The old Villa (all 4 floors) will host the newest entertainment spot in Carroll.  Managed by Tyler, a guided tour was given to Dale/WW and DBT over Memorial Day.  Still a lot to be done, but Wow!, what a place.  It is located a block or so North of highway 30, near Jerilyn's bank. It's so fancy, President Kennedy (Bill's idol) once stayed there! They plan on hosting weddings and even have some motel rooms to rent out....great place for the Tryons to congregate, I would say.....a golf outing is being planned for this Monday at 9:00 a.m. (Bill will be there) open to anyone, just show up at the Carroll Muni course. (Didn't they ban the Tryons after Dick and Dale took their shirts off??) JJ promises a free lunch, I think.....

Dale Is Elected To Board Of Cyclone Boosters!!
Yes, that is right, brother Dale was elected to the Board of Directors of the Story County Cyclone Club. (as big of a win as Tony Blair's?) It's the largest Cyclone booster organization in the country....a dream come true, I am sure....now what are the freebies? (for the relatives of course)

David And Tanner Win!!

David, Tanner and a couple of friends win the Fire Hose contest in Spirit Lake. There were several teams of 4.  They had to beat their competition (head to head) by seeing who could make the large barrel on a high rope move to the other end.

Sap Of The Month Winner, Congratulations Donna!!
Yes, it is hard to believe that our oldest sister could even be considered, yet win the Sap Of The Month Award, but it is true...the story...as told by Donna herself...............
"Well, I woke up about 4:20 a.m because I heard a noise....it was the smoke alarm going off.....I gave Bruce a good sharp elbow in the ribs, but he kept snoring away....the noise quit....then a few minutes later, it went on again.....I demand that Bruce do something (you know, he better or else), so I made him go check it out...(poor Bruce just had knee surgery)...Bruce (half asleep) fixed it by taking the battery out of the detector...then went back to bed...about 5 minutes later, I heard it again....this time a different one downstairs.....Bruce got up again, limped downstairs and pulled the battery from that one....then back to bed........a few minutes later I heard the one in the basement go off and made Bruce go fix that one too!....(funny how all of the batteries went bad on the same night.....and I really didn't want to get up because I had my super duper bat guano mud pack on my face and I didn't want to mess it or my hair up, besides I was warm under my covers, so I made Bruce do it).....We finally just got up, got ready for work and when we were leaving the house, we discovered the garage was full of smells and smoke and the car was RUNNING!!  Ooops....seems when I got home last night I put in the wrong code for our ignition and I programmed it to start and run every 15 minutes and it did it ALL night.......what a Sap, I was one who put  the car in and it must have run in the garage all night!!!...(don't you dare tell Dick or he will tell everyone on the web!  Ok? our little secret?)...Bruce drove the truck to school and I drove the car....the temperature light came on and I had to call a mechanic to look it over...we can't find the original codes to program it back........funny we didn't even hear the car running......."
What a Sap......thanks to the Cub Reporter who submitted the story.....the editor did make a few changes to the original copy.....

Believe It Or Not!!
Tom turned the BIG 50 this week....Wow!!.....Dick has been spending extra time rebuilding and redesigning his bathroom....(see photo)......What a handy man!!.....Jerry's school (AR-WE-VA) was out of school 3 weeks before Nevada!!!........(Nevada has 4 teachers inservice days AFTER school is out).....Bill has endorsed the job President George W Bush has done so far....heh, heh......(Man, there goes his administration)......Brett tried to run a load of laundry at home with: 6 pairs of blue jeans, 24 T-shirts, 16 basketball shorts, 24 socks, 4 dress shirts, 4 dress slacks, 8 sweatshirts, 5 sweat pants, one pair of underwear (wonder if that got clean?) and a SPORTS BRA......where did THAT come from?????.....new roommate????.....Wow, what a Sap!! No wonder he had to ask his Dad why the washer wouldn't run....wonder if the underwear got clean??..Todd's number for the Sioux Falls Storm Arena Football team is #1............DBT and WW spent a short weekend cleaning up the flood mess at Red Wing....Dick was seen stacking cement blocks ceiling high and WW was on his belly, in the mud,  crawling under a 1928 house, pulling out pipes and ducts....(it was the largest butt crack ever seen by humans, you could hide a shovel in it, Barb had to run away.... laughing).......Big Jim Hulsebus takes the lead in Tryon Fantasy Baseball, from the Fat Boys (DBT's).......Julie was seen trying to KEEP little CL from walking, she can't even keep up with him now!!........Eric's (Van Meter) star baseball pitcher is a girl!!....might be a long season.....Dale was seen buying back old Christmas presents he gave to Doug and Jodie at their garage sale.......any books???.......Brad now plans on running in the Minneapolis marathon, sometime this fall instead of Omaha's....yeah right, just as soon as Dick does.........the 3D's have expanded their comedy club up North and hope all can attend sometime.......LT's doctor told him to start GAINING some of his weight back.......Lucky Larry...bet I know of a few people who would donate some........Barb is flying to Sweden this summer and leaving Dick behind........guess who pays for it?....Not only has all of Morningside's basketball players left, but last year's coach in now AD and the new guy hired to replace him as now resigned after a couple of weeks on the job........Bill and Sally plan on a visit to Illinois and Iowa in the next couple of weeks.....Bill is a big shareowner of Exxon, so isn't he one of those rich Republican energy company owners that are ripping everyone off?.........Beth & WW's AAU team has a player that just signed with the Iowa Hawkeyes....Wow!!........It snowed this week in beautiful Colorado.....gee, I will pass......teachers in Iowa will get a 40 million dollar pay increase next year... Believe It Or Not!!!! (what a joke)

Mandy Shines At State Track Meet!!
Qualified for all four events...(breaking Marjean's record of 2)......Despite having a muscle pull in the stomach area, (DBT gets those every once in a while when he gets out of his chair too fast...).....She ended up 9th of 24 in the 400H (ran personal best 68.2) ...ADM's  4 x 800 relay (2:26 split) ...ended up 12th of 24, and 17th of 24 in the 4 x 400 relay.  Did not long jump because of her injury.  Wow, what a great track season....Nice job Mandy!!

Chad Sponsers 8K run/walk at Norwalk

This newsreporter is reporting that Mr. Norwalk-chamber-of-commerce himself pulled off the first ever runNORWALK, get it?  run or walk?  he was in co-in-charge and did an amazing job.  over 350 people signed up for the event and had a great turnout even with the rainy weather.  Brad (mr. preparing-for-the-omaha-marathon) rain the 8K in 35 min and Em, Cole and I walked the 3K and were still smiling at the end.  We are still waiting to see if Cole was the youngest participant.  the 3 month old who had signed up may have wimped out due to the rain.  Sara Sue helped the timers.  we even had t-shirts in the deal!

editor.........Congrats Chad and all who participated.....Brad is working out for a marathon??? Man, anything to get out of the house......Little disappointed others of us were not invited...A time limit on the 3K???? Wanted to finish before June? Could I carry my recliner along???  I know, when I jog, I leave pot holes.......I go to a restaurant and when the waiter gives me a menu, I say "Yes"......I've been known to put my chair up to the salad bar.....rather embarrassing....but great job. Chad and Em. and all.

Unbelievable!!
Never seen anything like it.  Barb and I got up early Saturday a.m. and drove to Red Wing, Minnesota to help Ray and Violet take a look at their house on the river. (Pagoda) Rumor had it that the river had gone down some. We messed around trying to find Ray's boat and motor and had a lot of help from neighbor Ronnie...after a couple of hours getting things situated. Barb and Ray went out in the boat to look things over. I had Barb take some pictures and Violet and I were going to go out next.  The current became dangerous and the boat was starting to leak. Needless to say, there was only one trip, but man the water. Never seen anything like it. Stuff you see on TV. It was something. Ray and Vi's neighbors are just wonderful helping here and there. Some even salvaged the lawn mowers. Things are insured. This is the 3rd flood since 1965, the last being 1997. This was the same height as then, but what created the damage was the terrible winds of last week. Remember? Waves crashed against almost all of the houses and many were damaged. Windows broken, doors off. Water everywhere. Stuff from up river all over down river. They are talking May until the river is down. Quite an ordeal, but the people along the river have been here before and sure do help each other out. Hard to imagine this beautiful vacation spot looking like this. The house was built in 1928 and this year's flood is 17ft. above normal. Some good news though....Ray's super duper Purple Martin housing complex looks like it survived and will be ready for another season of tenants! Click to view the unbelievable Photos

News From Malta
(Received the following from Lynn and Raquel)

Greetings from the Mediterrenean.
How's everything in good ole' Iowa? I hope you and your family are doing fine.
I just wanted to keep the family updated and give everyone my new e-mail addresses.
Because I've been so busy the past year I haven't been able to keep in touch with all my relatives as much as I would like.
Well, after nine years in Europe, i've hung my basketball shoes and moved on.
Last week, after months and months of work, I opened up the TRYON GYM here in Malta.
It's the best hardcore bodybuilding gym on the island. It's a new challenge and it's a lot of fun. I just hope someday you can all see it.
Take Care and hopefully I'll see you all at Todd's wedding.
