Brad Signs With The Houston Astros!!
Brad jumped from the Yankees to the Astros last week as his agent worked out a deal with Houston. He will report to Orlando, Florida for spring training this spring. Their AAA team in located in New Orleans (they do play Iowa) and their AA team is in Texas. Congrats Brad, this looks like a great opportunity!!!

Barb And Dick Win 35th Annual Tryon Hearts Championship!!
In quite possibly the upset of the millenium, Barb and Dick took home the Tryon Hearts trophy. In a hard fought contest, they edged the team of Tammi and Brett on the last trick. (no table talking at all) A big, special thank you to Tammi and Craig for their wonderful hospitality. Such a beautiful home and family, they were the hosts with the most. Thanks!!! Warren was the high scorer as usual and LT was penalized for excessive table talking. The highlight was Barb hitting and
cussing Jerry because of the old "fake the card trick". A great time was had by all.

Dick (hard to believe)Wins Sap Of The Month Award!!
Saturday morning he gets up early because he has driver education kids to drive and he must update the immensely popular Tryon Web Site, it's about 6:00 a.m. After the computer work is over he kisses his beautiful wife Barb good bye (she's still out like a log, snoring like a lumberjack, the pampered princess) and hops into his gorgeous white convertible. He drives to the school bus garage, makes a very sharp right turn into the parking lot and suddenly the sun explodes into his eyes, blinding any chance of seeing anything. (The dirty windshield makes it worse) The sun was just barely over the horizon, but at eye level. To be safe, he veers to the right in case a car approaches and WHAM!!!! He drives right into a 25-foot high light pole that has a very heavy cement base. His head goes into the windshield and the car instantly stops. Was he wearing a seat belt? Nooooooooo, this is a Sap story. Were there any witnesses? Yesssssssss, the other DE instructor was following, you could hear him laughing all the way to Ames. Was there damage to the car? It could be totaled, but we will know more next week. Was DBT injured? You can't hurt steel, just some blood oozing between the eyes (glasses) and not a lot of feeling in his left arm. Could Dick lose his driver instructor's license? He sure hopes so, he's had enough already. He picked up the DE car and went instructing anyway, the kids kept asking about the blood. When asked about it later, he said, "I've been hit harder driving the lane during Tryon basketball games! Ever have one of RT's (Mr. Hack) forearms in the face?" That poor car, there are a lot of wonderful memories with that 1988 LeBaron. Hope it isn't totaled. We will fix it up if we can. Gwen was really upset with the news. Lately, it's been her car. What a Sap!!!

Sunday, November 21, It's Hearts In Carroll !!
The 1999 version of the Tryon Hearts Tournament will be hosted in Carroll by Tammi and Craig.  In possibly the upset of the milleneum, Tammi and Todd won last year's tournament. The festivities will start at 3:00 p.m.  sharp, with supper following. Everyone is asked to bring their own drinks, a snack and the following.......Tammi-main course, Jerry-bean cassarole, Dick-fruit, Randy-relish, Donna-bars, Nancy-bars, Larry-chips and dip (there is a Holiday gas station in Carroll), Gaylord-salad, Bill-salad, Maxine-salad..........Grand kids only need to bring a drink and snack.  Please email Tammi so she may have an idea on how many to expect. If you need a partner, Tyler is available!!!

Gaylord To Receive Award From Buena Vista !!
At the half time of the BV homecoming game, Oct. 30th, GT will receive the Fisher award as the distingished alumni of the year.  Congrats GT, this is quite an honor!!!!

ADM Volleyball On A Roll !!
The Randy and Mandy team whips the #11 PCM volleyballers in 3 straight @ Prairie City.  The final game was 15-1...... PCM is the Eastern division champion (Nevada's) and the fighting Tigers also defeated Carlisle and Perry this week. Go Tigers in districts.

Sara Makes The ISU Water Ski Team !!
Little Sara, daughter of Donna and Bruce, is competing this weekend for the ISU Cyclones at a water ski contest. There are 22 universities competing and it is being held in Wilmington, Illinois. She will compete is slalom, trick skiing and other events. Wow, I didn't know they ski in the fall. Little cold???? Good luck and this has to be a first for the family. Do they practice on Lake Luverne in front of the ISU union???? Doesn't that frighten the swans ????

Norwich Navigators Are In The Finals!!
Brad's Norwich team (NY Yankees) have fought their way to the Eastern League finals. Hurricane Floyd had a major impact on the schedule. Brad should be back in Iowa sometime next week. Julie can't wait. Talk about a big honey-do list.

Bev Suffers Stroke
Bev, mother of Susie, Jeff, Cris and Kevin, suffered a serious stroke near Des Moines Thursday.  The latest news is in an email sent to Donna by Susie.  All of our prayers and best wishes for Bev and her family...............
Donna:
I'm so glad I was able to get through to you. I tried to download other
Tryon addresses from the Tryon Post Office but couldn't get it done. Yours
was the only one that I had written down in my DayTimer.
Mom is doing so much better today and as of tonight, even her speech had
improved. She has feeling in her left leg, foot and arm but still can't
move her arm at all. She is able to walk with someone on each side of
her. They are already starting physical therapy and by tomorrow at noon, they
hope to have her moved to the Younkers Rehab center nearby. She's
learning quickly how to adjust and the medical staff has told her that she is used to
a level of activity that's much higher than most and she should improve
quickly with her new skills. I'm praying for her to have patience with this new state of affairs. The
doctors told her that others with this same condition have taken up to
two months to be able to drive again. That blew some air up her skirt!
Mentally, she's ready to leave NOW and if anyone can will themselves to
get better, she's the one. Tomorrow she will ask her sister, Donna, to bring in her laptop so she can start to contact friends from afar and get caught up on some
correspondence between the therapy sessions. She was drinking a chocolate shake when I
called tonight and that made her pretty happy. I'm sure that she would
love to hear from you so I'll give you her "vitals":
cell phone: 409-255-1720
voicemail: 888-819-4361 (a free call)
e-mail: RVAdvent@aol.com
Bev Sullivan (she gets
her mail sent to her where ever she tells them she'll be )

address: PMB 12505
225 Rainbow Dr.
Livingston, TX 77399-2025

I hope you're able to send her a note over the "E" waves. She'd love to
hear from you! Mom is only 62 and this isn't supposed to happen to someone so healthy
and active like her but I told her it did happen to her because she can
handle anything and this is just another bump in the road. I also told her I
hope her road takes her to Denver because I'd love to have her here. She'd
park her RV in our basketball court on the side of the house and we'd be happy
as clams. Have you ever wondered why clams are supposed to be so happy?
Donna, I have to tell you that I feel so much closer to you these days
because I have a very dear friend - her name is Janet - that looks so
much like you and she makes me laugh like no one else ever has. Kind of like
you and Nancy. I miss you guys. Wish we were closer!
Crys and I were both waiting to hear the results from the MRI to see if
we'd head out. I think Crys is traveling to day and tomorrow for her job.
I talked on the phone with Janet Tryon tonight and gave her the low-down.
I will send you both Mom's new location and phone number as soon as that
happens tomorrow. Thanks for keeping us in your prayers!
Much love,
Susie

Mike Gets Super Job!!
Mike, son of Bill and Sally, has been named the president of Metal Management Inc. He will move to Chicago and start September 7th. Mike, Cynthia and family have been living in Georgia. This is one of the largest companies on Nasdaq and it's stock ticker is MTLM. Wow, congrats to Mike and his family on a wonderful advancement and opportunity. It will be fun to follow the stock value of this company and learn more about it.

Todd And Erika Are Wed !!
The little church on the prairie was the site of a beautiful wedding last Saturday. The church was packed to the rafters.  (They only had 14 in attendance last Sunday in this church) The sun shined, JJ and Jerilyn shined and all we needed was Michael Landon to drive up in a buggy. A great time was had by all out in Minnesota prairie. Rumor has it that Erika couldn't find the church, the bride was kidnapped for a while, Barb made a fool of herself when the chicken dance started, Tyler may need to take another speech class, but he and Lynn "glowed" during the reception. The stories flowed…Dale ate last, LT stole the cashews from neighboring tables, Brett announced he has to take his senior pictures over, Julie couldn't keep track of what state she was in, little Max was flirting with all the little girls, Beth threw a dirty diaper out of the car window in the church parking  lot, (where did she get that? She was in Julie's car)....yeh, the Tryons had a good time and ate a lot, too. JJ did look a little poorer for the occasion. Best wishes for Todd and Erika.

Mary Jane's Is A Grand Mother Again !?!
Carri and Bryan Kistner, of Omaha, just had their third daughter and a new Tryon is born, so welcome into the world, Jessica Jane Kistner. She was born on Sunday, August 15th and checked in at 7lbs. and 13 oz. Wow, I can't believe Mary Jane is old enough to be a grand mother, how many times? Mary Jane is going to visit her new grand daughter very soon. Great News, I bet Maxine is really excited!

Tryons Correctly Predict The Ames Straw Vote!!
The Tryon poll had Bush, Dole and Forbes as the big three, matching the actual Ames straw vote last Saturday. Who says polls are not accurate? Now vote on the new one! Who is next in the family to get married? The competition is hot and close!!

Lynn Decides To Go Back To Malta!!
Lynn decided to play professional basketball in Malta for another year. This time he will be part of the Malta National team and play in the very prestigious Italian Basketball League. He will leave sometime this week. More information when we find it.

Oh, My !! Dress Code At Carroll Municipal !!
A Tryon Exclusive……….The Carroll paper announced that the Muni Golf Course is now requiring shirts with sleeves on ALL players!!!! It was said that nearby homeowners had complained that "men who looked pregnant" played the course without shirts and that it LOWERED THEIR PROPERTY VALUES !! Could this have been caused by the Tryons during the Tryon Open ???? Didn't Uncle Dale lose his shirt? (See story below) Wasn't he dressed in a Budweiser tank top ?? Will the Tryons be able to find a place to play next year ?? Story is developing……(Special thanks to our on the spot reporter)

Mike's Boys Win Awards In Iowa !!
mikestj.gif (37019 bytes)Michael Jr. (pictured) and Brandon attended the Iowa Hawkeye (isn't Mike a big ISU booster?) basketball camp a week ago and came away with some super honors. Michael Jr. was named to the All-Star team, 20 top players out of 4-500, and Brandon won a Mr. Hustle award. Nice job guys. Michael Jr. will be a junior point guard at Peach Tree City High School near Atlanta, Georgia. Rumor has it that they are both quite the golfers, but one has a little trouble driving….. a car. Both are also first time contestants in the Tryon baseball picks.

Fun In The Sun @ Red Wing!!
The Watsons of Elk Horn and the Tryons of Nevada had another great time in their 4th annual relaxing vacation in Red Wing, Minnesota. If you like swimming, volleyball, hiking, fishing, movie going, grilling, massive shopping, boche ball, hunting (bats) and just relaxing, then you would love this spot. The highlight for some was just sitting under a tree reading and watching the boats go down the Mississippi river. Special thanks to Ray and Violet (Barb's folks) for their wonderful hospitality. This year we were also joined by Emilee, our new friend from Sweden. We were gone for 5 days and it was hot, record highs, but not quite 100.

Believe It Or Not!
Julie left the fourth of July @ the lakes early to get ready to fly to Connecticut. She got up early, got a friend to take her to the airport, the plane leaves at 6:00 a.m. She waits and waits and waits and then she finally figures it out that the plane leaves at 6:00 p.m. not 6:00 a.m. What a sap, sounds like something Barb would do! Believe It Or Not.

Watsons' Off To Sunny Florida
The AAU National basketball tournament is in Orlando, Florda this week (it was in Des Moines last year, Tennessee before that) and the SW Iowa Shooting Stars are participating. The Watsons' are flying to Orlando and will be gone about a week. Hopefully, the results will be posted on this page. Go Stars!!!

Dale, Janet And Donnie Are Off To The Nationals
Atlanta, Georgia is the location of this year's National Baseball Card Show and that means that Dale and Janet are heading out. Donnie is to meet them and there is a rumor that Tanner may join them. Dale is hoping for BIG BUCKS, but the worse national he ever had was the last time they were in Atlanta. Rumor also has it that they will stay down at Mike's home, in Georgia.

Cousin From Sweden Is Visiting DBT, Barb and Gwen!
EmilieBook.jpg (2655 bytes)Emilie Book, a distant cousin of Barb's, is visiting Iowa for the next month. She is 18,  is from Sweden and arrived Saturday night. She will stay in Iowa with Barb and her 3 sisters. Hopefully, we can take her to our annual pilgrimage to Red Wing, Minnesota next week.  She will also be here for the Book Family Reunion in Forest City.  I am sure she will meet some of the Tryons.  Gwen is sure looking forward to having a sister for a few weeks.  Just click to see more of her family.

Brad Shines Last Night!!

Brad Kaufman, pitcher in the NY Yankees farm chain (Norwich) threw 3 scoreless innings and struck out 6!! He only gave up one hit and that was a slow roller down third that the catcher let roll. Great job, to see the box score, click here and the team stats, click here.

Todd And Dale Win The Tryon Open !!!!
Yes, with his shirt off, the sunning blazing on his rippling muscles, the deep tan of a field worker, his golf ball way out in the middle of the fare way, using his athleticism to score big shots……. DALE? goes on to win the Tryon Open. Superior conditioning may have been the difference as Dale and Todd win the big prizes. Dale won the handicap division (nothing to do with his hip) and Todd for the second year in a row dominated the field setting a new Tryon record of 71 on the Carroll Muni course. There was a record turn out of 21 golfers, ehhh people. Highlights included Bill throwing his club 50 yards after only his second shot of the day! Donnie "mooning" Nancy, (although only Nancy saw it and some think she was hallucinating!) Dale taking his shirt off and then losing it (Did someone steal it?) someone then gave him a tank top (3 sizes too small) that said Budweiser and he had to walk around all day with that on. (Isn't he the same guy who ripped his pants last year?) And another family member forgot to wear a bra! (Barb, Nancy or Dale? you guess) It was a great time for all, a big thanks to all of those that attended. Other winners included Jerry defending his Master's title and Barb winning the women's division

Master's

Men's Women's Handicap
Jerry 84 Todd 71 Barb 85 Dale 61
Dale 87 Lynn 80 Janet 94 Todd 63
Bill 88 Jerry 84 Tammi 104 Danny 64
Jerry 64
Janet 64

Another Wonderful Time At The Lake!!
A big Tryon thank you to Donna and Bruce for hosting the annual picnic at the lake. It was some fun in the sun. A little hot and windy, but once you got away from Dale it was nice. (Just kidding) It was so great to visit with Aunt Helen, Lucille, Jim H and Nancy, Luellyn (sp?) and her grand kids, Mike H and so many others. It is a great tradition. The food was marvelous (ask Marjean) and the stories flowed. Thanks to all who attended and especially Donna and Bruce for all of their work!

SW Iowa Select Team Goes 3-2 In Major Midwest Tourney!
Warren and Brett's all star team won 2 out of three games in pool play, then went 1-1 in the final tournament to finish a very successful run in the Mr. Basketball Tournament in Kearney, Neb. Brett was 2nd on the team in scoring, averaging about 13 pts. Per game. One game he scored 22. Warren got the first technical of his career for yelling at the refs. (instead of Nancy?). The team that beat them out, may have won the entire tournament. Nice job guys.

A Tryon News Exclusive!!
Shocking Wedding Story Uncovered by a couple of Tryon News Hounds that were on the job. Seems Friday night, the groom (Chad) was seen at the Des Moines Airport ticket window!!!!! Heading out of town the night before the wedding? Cold feet? Wasn't he suppose to be at the wedding rehearsal? After being confronted, he claimed? He was leaving a message for a friend? Really? Couldn't call? Was he talked into going back? This and other shocking questions came up at the wedding…..Why was a rather large man (DBT) seated in front of the biggest fan, blocking the breeze for everyone else? Why was Larry seen stuffing his pockets with chocolate strawberries? ($3.50 a piece?) Why did they ever ask Barb to tape the ceremony? (She was lucky to find the right church!)…..Where was Randy? Pumping out his new mud hole? Why did Nancy and Warren have to rehearse hosting? Is Tammy slowing down or are her kids (Max and Macy) just getting faster? How did Gwen find the reception when Barb told her it was in Sheeman? These and other important questions need to be uncovered by the Tryon News in the future. Another exclusive Tryon Feature....Just Click To View The Unofficial Wedding Album!!

Gaylord And Sandy In Shoot Out With Police!!!
It started as a typical summer day for a school administrator. A little golf, a little sunshine, a drive with an attractive blonde, a very relaxing break from those tough 15 hour work weeks. On the way home a police car zooms by, then another, then another. Before it was all over 33 police cars were chasing an escaped convict. GT's car was right in the middle, for miles they followed the chase, then they finally pulled over and watched in horror as the police shoot out the window and then blow out the tires of the suspect. A lot of excitement for a couple of senior citizens, but wait a minute….isn't GT one of the guys who used to chase ambulances?? I seem to remember a story about a car crash and some nuns???? Was he chasing after the police just to watch the action??? Was poor Sandy put in the middle of this mess??? Looks like we need more investigative reporting from the News Hounds.

Dale And Janet To Play Golf With ISU Coach
Dan McCarney may not know what he is getting into. The 3D's are hosting an ISU outing and they have teamed McCarney with Dale and Janet. Now I can see Janet playing, but Dale? Sounds like a pool on how many wiffs are made!! Talk about pressure, I can just hear Dale going on and on about his hip operation. I predict high scores for all. Maybe they can sell him another one of RT's puppies?

Big Wedding Is This Saturday
Chad and Emily will be wed Saturday @ 4:00 p.m. in Ames. So who is more nervous? Chad or Donna and Bruce? It will be in the Collegiate Methodist Church with the reception at Gateway (Holiday Inn) right after the ceremonies. There is a dance, so if you want to watch some really bad dancers (Tryons) make sure you stay for the reception.

Tryon Gals Win!
Sandy, Barb and Janet crushed the field by shooting a sizzling 36 in the Nevada couples golf outing at Prairie View Golf Course in Nevada. Janet blasted the ball, Barb sunk some really long putts and Sandy led the way as the Tryons won by 3 strokes over their competition. It was 3 person best ball. The men, Dale, Gaylord and DBT whipped the gals with a 35, but finished third against the other men. Dale won the prize for longest putt. It was a great time.

George W. Bush’s Campaign Receives A Huge Boost!
BushJr.jpg (3409 bytes)With statements like, "We can’t lose now!" The Governor of Texas’ presidential campaign is now almost certain to be successful. His followers just got the best news possible…. Bill (Mr. Boys State) has officially come out against the governor. Now this is Bill, who has supported Ross Perot, Ted Kennedy, Gary Hart, Harold Stassen and Michael Dukakis. (see Bill’s comments) This is Bill, who went to Boys State WHEN HARRY TRUMAN WAS PRESIDENT! JFK wasn’t married yet, Hitler was dead just a couple of years, Reagan hadn’t entered politics yet, TV wasn’t even around, The USSR didn’t have the bomb and Elvis won’t record his first song for 6 more years! (He was in Junior High)….This is Bill, who is about to endorse Jesse Ventura for President. (Is he running?) This is Bill, who thinks conservatives want to control your life. (Hey, aren’t conservatives for less gun laws, less taxes, less killing of the unborn, less government, less laws, less debt, less political correctness and less spending?) Bill fall off of a horse or do they look at politics a little differently deep in the heart of Texas? This has been an Editorial comment.

Randy And Marjean Are Building A Swimming Pool
In Their Back Yard
Currently it is one big mud hole with RT and the kids using buckets to try and drain all of the rain we have had lately. It is expected to be done around the middle of summer, with RT doing much of the work.

Boone’s 7 on 7 Passing Team Finishes 3rd
Defeating Gilbert, North Polk, Atlantic and DM Valley, then losing to a Kansas City team the fighting Toreadors finished 3rd out of 60 schools at the ISU Passing Tournament.

chen_bing_copy_3.jpg (4460 bytes)New Member Of The Family Arrives In Late Summer
A big Tryon welcome to Chen Bing Jie, the brand new daughter of Doug and Jodie Stokke!!! She will arrive in America later this summer.  She is 18 months old and her name means pure and smart in Chinese.  (Isn't that what Dick means in English?) Her birthday is Dec. 13, 1997.  Congratulations to Chen and the proud parents to be!! An English name is being chosen. How about Dorothy? or Janet? or Jody jr.? or Nancy? or Hillary? or Dale? Sounds like another contest to me.......

Marj Is OK After Successful Surgery !!
Marj got through her carotid surgery today "very well." The surgeon said"it was a lot more clogged than the tests showed. It's a good thing it was done now." When I left her this evening, BarB and Nancy were with her-and Randy wrote that he was on his way to visit her, too. It sounds like she may be released tomorrow! She was in very good spirits and thankful it was all over! (story filed by Donna, Cub reporter)

July 12th Is The Date Of The Tryon Open
The second annual Tryon Open golf tournament will be held @ The Carroll Municipal course, Monday the 12th.  9:00a.m.  Go to site.

Randy Is Named Head Girl's Basketball Coach @ ADM
No, this isn't a sap story...Congrats, now he gets to continue coaching Mandy in basketball and volleyball!!! Great News.

Brett's Junior Select Team Wins One, Loses One
Sunday @ Johnston's high school gym, the SW Iowa Select Team defeated the SE Iowa team 80-73, with Brett the leading scorer with 26 pts....game two, a 91-83 loss to the NE Iowa team, Brett was second in scoring.
* Great article on Brett
* Article on the big Kearney Mr.Basketball tournament (July 1-4)
* Profiles of Kearney tournament players

rodney2.jpg (24406 bytes)5/25 * Dale's Surgery Is Looking Good!!
Dale is home from the hospital and thanks to St. Janet, his hip is looking good!!!   He says he is a little uncomfortable and can not put any weight on the hip yet, but is well ahead of pace to get up and about.....He walks with a cane and has gone for long car rides.....Visitors say it is kinda hard to visit with Dale, but appreciate talking to his best side.....He does like to show off his stitches and talk about his operation.   When he asks for help to change the dressings, that's when most visitors get up and politely excuse themselves.  It's an unwritten rule with Tryons, but it is hard to get any sympathy from family, but Dale tries. (Photos by the Papparazzi)

footmouth.gif (1303 bytes)5/25*  Jerry’s Great Adventure……..seems like JJ had a few problems last week……He was shingling his house, when he decided he had to head to Storm Lake for some supplies……A likely story, isn’t Carroll a lot closer??? (I would guess some wild business deal with Smokey or something and knowing Jerry, I bet someone was hired to do the heavy work on top of the roof)……After doing his work in Storm Lake, he loaded "Old Blue" with shingles and nails and headed back to Lake View……A few miles south of Storm Lake his car broke down…..Since this is not uncommon for "Old Blue" he got out to try to do some repair work……(In real Tryon tradition, does he have a clue what is wrong???)….I can see kicking the tires, cussing and blaming it on Jerilyn………He could not get it to run…..He had to hitch hike……An 18 wheeler stopped and it was driven by a lady trucker named Large Marge, 300 lbs. of fun…. (remember Pee Wee’s Great Adventure?)…….JJ was a little nervous when she started making eyes at him, but eventually she took him back to Todd’s house in Storm Lake……Todd then had to load all of the supplies into HIS car and take Jerry home. On the way they stopped at broken down "Old Blue" so Todd could take a look…..He said, "It looks to me like it’s out of gas!" Jerry replied, "Do you think I am that STUPID?"…..Jerry paid big bucks to have the 30 year old car towed into Storm Lake only to discover 2 days later that it indeed was out of gas……What a Sap??????? I can hear CL and Ray laughing about it now…….Sap of the century?????????????

5/23*  Maxine's Great Grandchild Suffers Burns.  Mary Jane's daughter Carrie has a little girl who suffered pretty severe burns in a kitchen accident in Omaha. You can email your prayers and concerns to Carrie directly by going to the Tryon Post Office and send a message to Carrie or Mary Jane. All of our hearts and prayers go out to everyone involved. In an email to Donna, Carrie wrote the following: sorry i haven't gotten everyone called yet, but mackenzie last saturday got burned by bacon grease.  She's in the burn unit at clarkson hospital, she
had surgery last wednesday, ended up having a skin graft on her upper chest
and a little on her shoulder.  the rest of her stomach and upper thigh they
used that synthetic skin.  They take the surgical dressings off on tuesday
morning, and then we'll see if and when she gets to come home.  She's
really doing quite well, she has a big wheel that she's riding up and down the
hallway, and a ton of new toys.  She gets ice cream whenever she wants
and anything else, needless to say everyone there is spoiling her!  Well talk
to you all soon.

5/12 * Bomb Threat Called In To Nevada Schools. It was high noon…class was settling in….when the loudspeaker ordered everyone in the high school to go outside and walk 6 blocks to the Lutheran Memorial church. It was a bomb threat. Called in to the school secretary. The students and staff went to the sanctuary of the church and stayed there OVER 3 hours. The students started getting restless after 10 minutes. Over 500 kids locked up in the church. No one could call or leave. What a long afternoon and it looks like we get to make up the time missed. Sandwiches and water were brought in and the student got to listen to Christian music. It was NOT a pretty site. The Jr. High/middle school were evacuated too. They didn’t start looking for the bomb until almost 3. No one could get back into the school for any reason. Fun and games at Nevada High. (It’s not true that DBT had to pried away from his computer and stock reports)
The following story was written by Larry (cub reporter):
According to Dante's Inferno (that's a book to you P.E. teachers out there). Ogden bomb evacuation was two big levels below Nevadas. Our lasted 4 hours in a small Catholic Church (350 people - church holds 300) One floor, One room. No food was served all day, as ours started at 11:00 and cooks had to leave the food as it was (all spoiled). A message was written on the rest room wall (I didn't know anybody ever read that stuff). We had the Highway Patrol, County Sheriff, State Fire Arms people, and our local Barney Fife. The church was wild - you should of saw all the wimpy, liberal teachers head for cover. I still have battle scars (I wonder if I will get a purple heart or somethimg). I can't wait for what modern education is going to give me today. Have a good day. LT

5/11 *  Dale is out of surgery and is ordering the nurses around.  At 2:00 p.m. he was wheeled back to his room.  The nurse asked if he is always this grumpy and there was silence in the room......Jodie and Janet are keeping watch.  No complications thus far.  The same doctor who did Mike's shoulder operated on Dale......(Wasn't that back in the 70s? 25-30 years ago? This guy Quincy???)  "His hip was degenerating and looked like melted ice cream," the doctor said. The only people who get the type of hip joint Dale has are alcoholics, steroid users, scuba divers or blacks!!?!  Hey, is Dale living a secret life we don't know about?  Black blood? Dick maybe (he's got some soul) but Dale????  Dale is at Mary Greeley in Ames, room 365 and should be there for up to 10 days.

5/11* Mandy Qualifies For Three Events At State!! That’s right, little Mandy did something Marjean never did, she qulified for the state track meet as a freshman. Mandy qualifies in the 4X800 relay, the 4X400 relay and the open 400….She will run at Drake stadium on May 21 and 22….She anchors both of the relays…Nice job Mandy !!!!

donna.gif (2126 bytes)5/11* Donna Named Tryon Sap Of The Month !!! Hot off the presses…..this crack reporter has learned the following Top Secret information……It seems Donna and Bruce are enclosing their screen porch that overlooks the lake. New windows to show off the beautiful view. Seems the carpenters spent days following Donna’s orders to the letter. She was constantly there to oversee the operation. Do this, do that, you know Donna. Finally, they were finished…..what a relief……she was so proud……she took a seat in one of the chairs and discovered THE WINDOWS WERE TOO HIGH…..she couldn’t even see the lake. All she saw was the dark wall. What a sap!! She had to call the 3 carpenters back and do it all over. The windows had to be moved down 12 inches. It still isn't done, it will take days to redo the job.  What a sap!! She is trying to keep this a secret from Bruce, but that’s impossible with this reporter on the job. Remember, this makes Donna now eligible for Tryon Sap Of The Year.

5/9 * The SW Iowa Shooting Stars finished 3rd in the Iowa State AAU basketball championships. Despite a super 8-1 record in the competition, the Stars finished third. They have earned the right to attend the Nationals in Orlando, Florida this summer. (July 19-25) Brett was named all-tourney. Dale, Janet, Dick and Barb attended most of the games, played in Des Moines. Barb almost got into a fight with a black lady, but that is another story. (She was outweighed by 150 lbs) The last two wins for the Stars were in overtime and double overtime. Great basketball, Warren put the team together, but could not coach it due to high school rules.  Brett was the leading scorer on his team and made a lot of clutch shots.

5/9 *Doug Offered Job At ISU..... Mr. Forestry has been offered a very nice position at Iowa State, he will become the Head Of Forestry Extension, sounds like he will take it.....Oh, by the way, Doug is off to Taiwan this week, representing ISU...tax dollars at work.  Is he trying to be a peace ambassador like his idol, Jesse Jackson (Doug has his autograph you  know) or is he carrying top secret spy material to the Chinese for President Clinton ??? More later...... Congratulations Doug and Jodie !!

5/9 * The Tryon Home Page has been experiencing some major technical difficulties, this past week, entirely at this end. We are having problems with some of the graphics and our site has had to be rebuilt. I have no clue on the cause. The bulletin board and Tryon poll have been working fine, but some graphics and links may not work properly in the next few days. Please bare with us, remember, this site is FREE !!!

5/2 * Dale Will Have His Hip Replaced On May 11th at Mary Greeley in Ames. It seems Dale is not happy about his golf swing, so he wants to do what Jack Nicklaus did and have his hip replaced….He is currently walking around with CL’s old cane that he bought in the Tryon auction, less than a year ago……Dale will be laid up about 2 months if everything goes well….Janet has vowed to take care of him….(what else is new?)

5/2 * Brad Wins His First Game As A Reliever !!! Brad pitched 1 2/3 innings of perfect ball and got the win…..He struck out 3…..Click here to view the box score.

5/2 * Mandy Sets A School Record In The 4X800…….She anchors the relay and had the fastest split…They broke the record by over 10 seconds !!..She then rested a little and went out and won the 400 meter hurdles!!!!! Gwen got to race in the 4X800 relay against Adel’s (Mandy’s) team and did quite well, too…Mandy’s relay team has 3 freshmen and a sophomore running in it……Ronnie was a timer and Dick, Barb, Marjean, Majorie and Randy cheered from the bleachers and enjoyed the perfect day………Nice job girls, we are all very proud of you…..

5/1 * Brett Attends His First Prom And Even Has A Date !!!! Then, after a few hours of sleep, leads the Shooting Stars to another victory in the state AAU tournament……Go Stars!!!

* Great article on Brett
* Article on the big Kearney Mr.Basketball tournament (July 1-4)
* Profiles of Kearney tournament players

4/25 * Farm Clean Up Day Is Big Success…….Men At Work…..that was the motto……When Dale got out of his van, there were 4 turkey vultures circling him, he says that’s what happens when you are 64…..Dick showed Tanner and Brett how to carry heavy poles on his shoulders and Warren arrived after most of the work was done……Larry gave the orders and RT supplied the truck and sandwiches… It was great fun when we all walked the creek and counted 8 old cars dumped in the ditch…….We think Bonnie and Clyde used to hang out there……..

Shonna And Eric Have The Big Announcement!!

4/23 *  A bundle of joy is expected in Van Meter sometime around November.  Shonna and Eric have been hiding this information for a long time, but secret sources have finally talked.  This will be #1 and we are all very happy for the young couple.  Where will the stork stop at next?????

Lynn Leads His Pro Basketball League In Scoring !!
maltaBB.gif (4781 bytes)4/20* Lynn led his league in scoring, assists and 3 pointers as his team made the semi-finals of the Malta Pro Basketball playoffs. His season is winding down and he is looking forward to coming home in early May.  He is even bragging about his golf game, so everyone look out!! Gee, seems DBT and Dale stuck JJ and Lynn in Nevada last summer?!? Lynn says the Kosovo mess is really serious in that area of the world.   Congrats on another fine season!!

Nancy Voted Sap Of The Year !!
4/13*  Baby sister was voted the Tryon Sap Of The Year in the Tryon Poll....Narrowly defeated Brad's drilling of the shower pipe.  I think it is fitting to re-run her nominated story. Hey, we have not had many nominations this year, what's the deal???

blazer.gif (4495 bytes)1/7* It was dark......cold........Nancy was in a hurry......She was running late.....She pulled up to a friend's house to pick her up to go to the Big game.......Her friend says, "Nancy! Why are driving with the hood of your Blazer up?"  She had driven 15 miles with the hood unlatched........Nancy cusses, gets out and slams the hood down......It doesn't latch right away so she puts her weight behind it....... Bang!!.....(Neighbors say they saw her sitting on it, but that has been unconfirmed).........now she's late, so she speeds to Exira and the Big game..........When she pulls up to the gym a friend notices something dangling out of the hood........looks like some type of electrical cord?..........She finds her husband...(a tall, handsome man who is surrounded by an adoring press.....and is busy giving out autographs, handshakes and old, wornout sport's cliches)..........Nancy, very innocently whispers in his ear, "Honey, there seems to be something wrong with the hood of the Blazer, the latch doesn't work."........Her husband knew right away what the problem was......it seems Nancy backed out of the garage with the Blazer's heater still plugged into the wall and the car.......She then dragged the heater, half the wooden bench and the cord down the street until all that was left was the dangling cord !!!!!......What a Sap !!!....... Maybe the radio was on too loud (or maybe she was  just singing Elvis' Hunk Of Burning Love?).... to hear the crashing and smashing of the Blazer dragging everything down the street.........estimates are a couple of hundred bucks........Believe It Or Not !

Brad Sent To Norwich By NY Yankees !!
4/3*  Saturday morning, Brad was given meal money and a room mate for Columbus, Ohio, but by nightfall, it was a ticket to Norwich, Conn. (we think).   Brad and Julie are excited about playing on an east coast team, not very far from New York City.  There is also talk of making Brad a reliever.  Brad had a very good spring with the Yanks and is looking forward to a new challenge. Go Norwich and go Brad, we all wish him the best!!!! (except in fantasy basketball) The Brad Update page will be updated as soon as possible.

Forbes Wins Tryon Poll !!
4/1 *  Steve Forbes (Mr. Flat Tax) wins the first Tryon Poll with 36% of the vote.  This is a major upset. Libby Dole finished second with 26%, Bill Bradley closed fast with 21%, George W Bush finished with 16%,  and the rest were a joke.  Lamar Alexander (who has been living in Iowa the past decade) did not receive any votes and the man who invented the internet (AlGore) got one vote.  Rumor is a school administrator from Barbie's side cast the only AlGore vote.  We had 95 voters and it is about as accurate as any other poll out there!! Now have you voted in the new one?

It's Official......Another Sandy In The Family !!

3/29*  Wow!!  It must be spring.  Sandy and Gaylord were wed over the weekend. At a quiet ceremony in their new home, (I had Las Vegas in the pool) the happy couple exchanged vows.  Congratulations from the entire family.  GT had this to say, "just wanted you to know that Sandy and I got married at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 27 at our new house in Johnston.  It was a very private ceremony with only  six people in attendance.   Our house is not finished
yet--we take possession on April 29.  We have sold both homes that we are
currently living in."
The very best to the both of them....Bless be the tie that binds.

Brett Is Named First Team All-State
3/21*  Brett Watson from Elk Horn, Iowa was named first team All-State Basketball by the Iowa News Service today.  Congratulations !!  He is the son of Nancy and Warren Watson, part-time teachers at the Elk Horn - Kimballton high school.  8 members were chosen and he was one of 3 guards, the other 5 were front court players.  A tremendous honor, we are all very proud.  Nice job Brett.

Gaylord And Sandy To Tie The Knot !!

engage.gif (2192 bytes)3/18*  Wow!!!   It Must Be Spring !!  Earth shattering news from Tryon Central.  Des Moines' most eligible bachelor is getting married in a few weeks.  I guess the ad he took out in The Datemaker must have worked.  Congratulations!!   A warm Tryon welcome to Sandy on this decision to join the Tryon family.   Despite playing hearts, attending Christmas (observing the Tryon grab bag) , playing golf, raising a wild (Tryon) puppy and meeting the relatives, she accepted !!   What a St. Patrick's day surprise!! Gaylord sent the following details this a.m........
Just some news to share--Sandy and I are planning on getting
married--sometime in the next couple of weeks or so.  It will be a very
private, informal wedding ceremony.  We have purchased a new home in
Johnston; plan on moving in around April 30.  We will probably be having a
reception of sorts sometime after we get settled.

What wonderful news, we all enjoy Sandy so much...............and now we can quit worrying about GT.

Big Fight In Nevada

donking.jpg (4648 bytes)3/17*  Dick opens with a powerful left jab......Brett does the Rope-A-Dope in the corner.....Dale unleashes a crushing left hook......Watson shows the footwork of a gazelle as he does the Ali shuffle on his way to the bathroom.....(Barb was the round girl)...Yes, it was the big fight. .........Lenox Lewis vs Evander Holyfield for the unified heavyweight championship of the world, on the big screen, digital satelite, in the living room of DBT.  Great fun, loud cheering, super George Foreman burgers for the occasion and we saw the upset of the ages...Lewis won almost every round.......but wait, the judges see it differently and a DRAW is declared !!  This can't be, the crowd goes wild......Dale loses the pool!!!   The only one happy is Don King, who declares there has to be a rematch.  Is that why this guy is smiling???? Don King always wins, don't bet against him......Hey??? Doesn't this guy look a little like........ Dick?????

Debbie And Scott Lose Loved One

3/15*  Our deepest sympathy for Debbie and Scott on their loss of a loved one.   Scott's mother passed away Sunday.  She was living with Debbie and Scott and died of cancer at age 61.  Sandy and Jim wrote the following.....

Scott's mom, Sandy Stoneman, passed away yesterday (March 14th) at Deb & Scott's home after being recently diagnosed with brain cancer after having a stroke.  She passed away very peacefully.  She was a friend to everyone she met and we will miss her.  Her greatest accomplishment was being a loving mother to her two sons, Scott & Todd and her two daughter-in-laws, Deb & Cathy.

All of our prayers, love and sympathy to Debbie, Scott and members of her family. She must have been a very special person.  Funeral services will be Wednesday.  If you wish to contact Debbie and Scott, their email address is DKStoneman@aol.com

It's been quite a year for the 3 Amigoes.....

2/28* The 3 Amigoes up north pulled off another good one.  That's Danny, Donnie and David.  They have won the rights to have ISU CYCLONE and NEBRASKA Outings to be at their establishment. Both are during the summer.  They had currently been held at other NW Iowa locations.  McCarney, Smith and another Assistant FB Coach will speak for ISU.  David had negotiated this with Pete Taylor, Smith and McCarney. This last fall they talked the local radio station to doing a local call-in show to at their location (sports questions of course). They had many famous guests on the program, such as KS Athletic Director, Dan McCarney,Viking personnel, etc.,  They also established a NW Iowa golf tournament, which was a big success.  Last summer, they talked the city into closing off main street for a band concert.  Of course, they had the rights to sell
the beer.  This was one of their biggest days last year.  They put on a
Super-Bowl Party which was a tremendous success this year.  They have some
kind of celebration each month.  And of course, they have their Comedy shows
on evenings in the summer.  The Funny Barn is located in Spirit Lake, Iowa.

Mandy's B-Ball Team Wins Boone Tournament !!

2/28* Mandy was the leading scorer in the AAU Tournament won by the Adel lady hoopsters 46-38 over a very tough Marshalltown team.  Mandy scored over 50 points in her games.  Her team is coached by Randy, so you know that she gets her minutes.  Congratulations to the both of them!

Danes Win Two Along Tournament Trail

2/27*  The Fighting Danes got off to a strong start by defeating Guthrie Center 81-52 and then derailing their arch rival Exira 64-45 to advance in the Iowa High School Boys Basketball Tournament.  Brett scored 26 in the opener and 25 last night.   Dale, Janet, Larry, Jerry, Tammi, Craig, Jerilyn, Tyler, Bruce, Donna, Dick and Barb (who showed up at the 3rd quarter) made the Thursday night contest at Guthrie Center. EHK play at Adair (vs Walnut) on Monday night and if they win at Audubon on Wednesday night, then at Boone on Saturday night.   I think all games will start at 7:00 p.m......... On To State !!

Lynn's Hamrun Liberty Jaxa Defeat Siggiewi 76-67 !!!

2/21 *  That's right, our own Lynn Tryon is second in the league in scoring and FIRST in assists as he is the only foreign player on his team in the Malta Pro Basketball League.  Lynn is fresh off of a 39 point, 12 assist game against a very tough rival (Siggiewi). Lynn's team, the Hamrun Liberty Jaxa is currently in fourth place and play the third place team Wednesday.  Go Jaxa !! Is that Maltese for Cyclones???

nyyanks.jpg (21528 bytes)Brad Leaves For Spring Training In Early March

Heading to Florida to train with the World Champion New York Yankees is our own Bradley Kaufman. (Husband of Julie (Donna's) and head coach of the Waukee Alarm Clucks, eh Clocks) After training with the Padres in Arizona, it should be quite an adventure to see the sights of Florida.  We all wish Brad the best !! He received a nice raise after finishing the year with Columbus AAA and Las Vegas AAA.

Glidden Neighbor Dies In Freak Accident

2/14*  Chad Frommel, the son of our wonderful neighbors to the South of the Glidden house, died in a freak accident while cutting down a tree.  He was Sara's age (19?) and he mowed the lawn of Clarence and Dorothy for many years.  The folks really liked him and all of the Frommels.  I hope some cards or flowers are sent for the family.  More details if I get them.
Visitation will be Wednesday, 4-6:30p.m. at the Glidden funeral home and 7-7:30p.m at the Catholic Church in Glidden.  The funeral is Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the Catholic Church.  Randy has sent flowers for the family.

Russell Densmore Funeral Is Thursday

2/10*  Russell Densmore of Guthrie Center died very suddenly Sunday.  He was Mom's brother's (Dean) son.  The
funeral will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 11 at the
Methodist Church in Guthrie Center.  Visitation is at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 10 at the Biedelman Funeral Home in Guthrie Center.  What a shock.  He was playing basketball.  Having spent 6 years in Guthrie Center, I have never known a more respected, admired or well-thought-of member of any community.  He (and his wife Jean) have raised such a strong, loving, sincere, Christian family.  Quality people.  They represent the very best of Midwestern values and small town American virtue.  He will certainly be missed. It's a very sad day. Dorothy and Clarence always spoke so highly of Russell and his family.  Our hearts and prayers go out to all of the Densmores.

Danes Lose To Ar-We-Va ......50-49 .....Go to 14-1

2/9 * The winning streak ended as the fighting Danes lost to the fighting Rockets last night 50-49.  Brett fouled out.  The Danes have two more very tough games this week.   They play at CAM tonight and have Exira Friday.  Elk Horn is currently ranked #5 in the state. More details as they develope.

cwomn071.gif (3898 bytes)New Sap Of The Month !!  It's Baby Barb !!

2/9 * This month's sap is our own (What? Me Listen?) Barbie, who spent hours Friday night driving around trying to find the Elk Horn vs Earlham basketball game.  After getting clear and concise directions to the game by her creative genius husband, she immediately drove to Exira, instead of Earlham.  Not finding the game there, she then drove to Elk Horn, but still no game.  (She new it began with an E)......She heads back to Nevada, when she is startled to see another town that begins with an E...(Earlham) She checks it out and sure enough, there is the Elk Horn bus.   She missed the entire girl's game and it was the 4th quarter of the boys.  We are glad she finally made it......Let's see, she could have driven to Essex, Early, Eastwood, East Des Moines, Easter Lake, East Monona, Everly, Eldora..... etc.   Another Sap or a dumb blonde story ??!!!

Bed Wetter?????

2/9 *  It was very late......The creative genius was tired.....He had been busy bringing wit and humor to all that would listen......It was time for bed........His beautiful wife was asleep (it was past 7:30 p.m.).....Respecting her solitude, he got quietly into bed without turning on any lights............Lying there (with the radio on......it's a family curse) he calmly drifted away thinking of nothing but rising stock markets, M & M cookies and long putts going in.......but wait.......something is a miss......"Honey, is the furnace turned down??  Are you sweating??????? Do you smell dirty laundry??????.....Mildew????????...My God!!!"........Moving faster than a speeding bullet to the light switch, there became an outragious discovery...........THE PUPPY had pee'd all over Dick's side of the bed!!!!...... the pillow and three blankets were soaked through....Barb...... noticed nothing...... she just snored away.........and this was the same dog that ate the glasses a month before........PUPPY FOR SALE !!!!!!

Danes Win 2 Championships Friday Night!!

1/31*  The fighting Danes defeated CAM in a Friday night double header.  It was the 15th consecutive championship for the girl's team.  Beth, only a 9th grader, made a signicant contribution.  In the second game, Brett scored 32 pts. had 9 assists and 10 rebounds to slam CAM 72-67.  Doug, Jodie, Bruce, Donna and Dick and Barb were in attendance.  Both teams remain undefeated!!

Showdown After Sundown.......Special Ed. Student Outshoots Larry !!

gunfighter.gif (2379 bytes)1/23 * The crowd was steamy.....There was nervous sweat everywhere....The old gunfighter was being challenged by the new kid in town.........Just like a scene from an old Randolph Scott movie, it could have been 1899, but it was 1999 in little Elk Horn, Iowa.........Dressed in black (it makes him look thinner) the old gunfighter accepted the challenge.....He had to....it was time the old gunfighter laced up the leather for one more shootout.......Using the experience of victories past, the man in black tried every trick he could think of to nail the kid.....He had the sun eh..lights behind him.....he played to the crowd better than Bill Clinton....he brought along his own fans to blur the outcome..........he told the kid how handsome he was.........but it would be sudden death.....in a heartbeat it would be all over.  The first to draw blood   wins.......The kid weighed more than both Rhinehart twins together (well over 400 lbs)..........he was a pie-eater.........but he was loose....cool..... He put down his 4 bags of pop corn and strode right up to the legend.......and  looked him in the eye.........In a flash it was all over.......The old man feinted left, moved right and put up a three......nothing but nothing......his nerves of steel and his deadly eye had let him down....it didn't draw iron and barely air......the groan from the crowd stuck in their throats...........then silence.......The kid's turn....he spun, darted, then nailed a shot from the free throw line...... it was all over......in a flash, there was a new top gun....As the townspeople cheered and carried off the hero, the kid glanced back and saw the old pro give a nod of respect....and deep down the kid knew that someday he too will meet a kid that will be a little too fast, too sharp and too quick....but he quickly jumped off of the shoulders of the crowd and went looking for his pop corn......

Special Ed. Kid 1.........Larry 0..........

Welcome....Peyton Elizabeth Parker (P.E.P) !!

1/15 *  Sherry  and Todd are first time parents with baby Peyton.  Born this a.m., she checked in at 8 lbs. 11 1/2 ounces and 22 inches.   Grandchild #4 for Larry and Jan....Wow !!! Mother, father and baby are doing fine.   It was a long labor....more details as they come in........Great News.....

Wonderful Des Moines Register Article On Gaylord

1/13 *  On Monday, on the back side of the sports section, many of us were surprised to see a very nice article on Brother Gaylord.  Who says athletics gets all of the publicity???  Congratulations GT, we are all so proud to know such a famous person!!  Just click to read the Des Moines Register article !!

Cute Story Sent In By Cousin Jim H. From Florida

A man takes the day off work and decides to go out golfing.
He is on the second hole when he notices a frog sitting
next to the green.  He thinks nothing of it and is about to
shoot when he hears, Ribbit 9 Iron."

The man looks around and doesn't see anyone.   Again, he hears,
"Ribbit 9 Iron."  He looks at the frog and decides to prove the
frog wrong, puts the club away, and grabs a 9 iron.  Boom!  He hits
it 10 inches from the cup.  He is shocked.  He says to the frog,

"Wow that's amazing.  You must be a lucky frog,eh?

The frog reply's, "Ribbit Lucky frog."  The man decides to take
the frog with him to the next hole.   "What do you think frog?," the man
asks.
"Ribbit 3 wood."

The guy takes out a 3 wood and, Boom!  Hole in one.  The man is
befuddled and doesn't know what to say. By the end of the day,
the man golfed the best game of golf in his life and asks the frog,
"OK where to  next?"

The frog replies, "Ribbit Las Vegas."

They go to Las Vegas and the guy says, "OK frog, now what?"
The frog says, "Ribbit Roulette."
Upon approaching the roulette table, the  man asks,
"What do you think I should bet?"  The frog replies,
"Ribbit $3000, black 6."

Now, this is a million-to-one shot to  win, but after the golf
game, the man figures what the heck.  Boom!
Tons  of cash comes sliding back across the table.  The man
takes his winnings and buys the best room in the hotel.
He sits the frog down and says, "Frog, I don't know how to repay
you.  You've won me all this money and I am forever grateful".

The  frog replies, "Ribbit Kiss Me."
He figures why not, since after all the  frog did for him, he
deserves it.
With a kiss, the  frog turns into a gorgeous 15-year-old girl.
"And that, your honor, is how the girl ended up in my room. So help
me God or my  name is not  William Jefferson Clinton."

Mandy Scores 10 In Overtime Win Vs Carroll

1/7*  Baby Mandy scored 10 points, 6 in overtime as the ADM girls varsity won their first game of the season.  Quite an acomplishment as Mandy is only a 9th grader.  Sure is going to be fun to watch her and Beth have outstanding athletic careers in the future........Story by Donna.......say, she sure seems to be a regular source for the Tryon News, does she ever teach anymore?????

Happy Birthday To This Month's Sap.... !!!!!!!

Dog Eats Dick's Glasses !!!

1/6*  Damn Dog #% !!!  Gwen's new puppy chews everything.....On New Year's morning Dick gets up like a post-hibernated grizzly bear and squints around.... but he can't find his glasses.  He stumbles around, yells for Barb and then discovers this mangled, plastic gob in the middle of the living room.  Upon further inspection, he discovers the remains of his specially made, bi-focaled, one eyed,   $400 glasses.........the dog is cowering under the dining room table....wagging her tail........Geeeeeezzzzz, are there any stores open on New Year's day???  Man, what about all of the football games.......Barb?........The lenses are scratched up and chewed, no nose pads and the ear cushions have never been found (although someone said the poop looked a little funny).....So good ol' Barb searched the basement boxes and found a pair of glasses Dick wore at Guthrie Center and then spent the day broadcasting  the football games to him... She would announce how much time was left and the scores......New glasses will be here in a week to ten days.......the dog is currently buried under the snow in the back yard.........

Web Site Has A New Home !!

2/1 *  In an attempt to continue to make this web site the BEST family site on the web, the Tryon Family web site is now originating from a secret location just outside of Roswell, New Mexico.  Trying to stay one step ahead of the authorities, we had to move.  There are some benefits......1) we now have a permanent location 2) we will be able to add new features 3) we have an easy to remember address------www.tryons.com   Please pass the word.

The new razzle-dazzle feature that DBT (creative genius) has added is the Tryon Family Bulletin Board.  A discussion area where anyone can add anything to our site.  Got something (legal) to sell, give-away or complain about, this is the place.  Be careful, there may be some bugs for a while...For example, if your web browser does not support frames, (most do) you may not see all of it.  If too many have troubles, let me know and I may have to make some adjustments.  Have fun with it.....How about recipes? or free tickets? or a set of golf clubs you might want to get rid of (Dale)?? or a new diet?? or hot stock tip????   Enjoy........any major problems e-mail...genius.
